Dakota was our first male and he never lets us forget it! He has the heart and soul of an over-sized puppy!  But, when it comes to the other males, he is still inclined to assert his self-perceived "alpha" status!  Dakota will be 9 years old this May and self-retired himself a couple of years ago.  He injured his left eye following the ice storm a few weeks ago and, in spite of 6 weeks of antibiotics and TLC, it was necessary to have the eye removed.  For the time being, he is our "house dog".  Once the stitches have been removed and he has adjusted to his visual limitation, he will become our "yard dog".

Always watchful, NOTHING escapes his attention!

Dakota is the vocal one of our family ... the moment we step from the house towards the pens, he begins "talking" to us.

Dakota gets along with the other dogs, except, of course, the other males. He doesn't even mind the cats ... provided they don't venture near his food bowl!

In the beginning, Dakota had been a house dog. The perpetual puppy, he loves to wrestle! But, his absolute favorite thing is being bathed and brushed ... thank goodness!  He even enjoys the hairdryer!

Dakota is not particularly fond of the camera! Once he spots it, he tries to distance himself.

In this particular instance, he tries to elicit Ron's help in escaping the "camera monger" (me)!

Enough of the pictures already!

I believe that the only reason Dakota is not fond of the camera is that is takes away from his petting (which requires two hands). We've spoiled him terribly!
