PRICE
Effective January 1, 2011, for those Oklahoma residents purchasing a puppy, an additional Ten Percent (10%) must be added as sales tax (state, county, municipal) as required by law. Out-of-state buyers are exempt from the payment of Oklahoma sales tax.
Puppies are available w/Limited registration for Four Hundred Fifty and 00/100 Dollars ($450.00) PLUS shipping (see "shipping" below). NOTE: You will receive a "rebate" of $50.00 upon receipt of proof from your veterinarian that the puppy purchased from us has been spayed/neutered.
Puppies w/Full registration are Nine Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($900.00) PLUS shipping (see "shipping" below).
"Limited registration" simply means that puppies whelped/sired by a pup purchased from us as a companion are not eligible for AKC registration. Also, a pup w/"limited registration" is not eligible to participate in AKC-sponsored conformation shows ("altered" dogs are not permitted).
"Full registration" means that puppies whelped/sired by a pup purchased from us for the purpose of breeding ARE eligible for AKC registration OR, if purchased for the purpose of showing, the pup is eligible to participate in all AKC-sponsored events.
Regardless of whether you choose "limited" or "full" registration, pups purchased from our kennel are AKC-registered. The designation of "limited" or "full" applies only to the eligibility for AKC registration of future puppies whelped/sired by the pups purchased from our kennel and the ability of pups originating from our kennel to participate in certain AKC-sponsored conformation events.
With each puppy, you will receive
1) an AKC application for registration (each litter whelped at our kennel is immediately registered with AKC and each pup is accompanied by a copy of the litter's "certificate of registration");
2) an AVID application for registration in its pet recovery system. Our puppies are microchipped at 2 weeks of age (a $40 - $60 value) at no extra charge. The microchips are registered in the name of Ruhmanns' Alaskan Malamutes at the time of purchase. You need only fill in your name/address/contact number and mail in the application with the appropriate one-time fee (there is a separate charge to update the record if you move or the pup is re-homed). Also, AVID provides a blue tag to attach to your pup's collar, a card to keep in your wallet, and a mini-card to place on your key chain - all of which have your pup's AVID ID# thereon and a toll-free number. In the event your puppy is lost or stolen, you will readily have your pup's microchip ID # available!
Also, you may now register your pup's AVID microchip # with AKC's pet recovery system. If you choose to register your puppy with AKC's PetTrac system, AKC provides a black metal tag to affix to your puppy's collar which has your puppy's AKC # and toll-free number thereon. We recommend that our puppies be registered with both AVID and AKC to ensure his/her safe return in the event he is lost or stolen. AKC now offers a pet recovery program which, if your pet is enrolled, will notify by e-mail veterinarians and shelters in your area if you report your dog lost or stolen (you should take pictures of your pup frequently so that you can provide PetTrac with a recent photograph to accompany its notice to veterinarians/shelters)! See http://www.akccar.org/lost_pet_alert.cfm.
3) a worming/shot record reflecting dates the puppy received its wormings and shots while at our kennel (according to a protocol established by our veterinarian, we worm our puppies at 2, 4 and 6 weeks of age; administer initial puppy shots at 6 weeks of age, and administer first booster at 8 weeks of age - provided the puppy is not scheduled to be shipped within 48 hours of receiving booster shot);
4) a Contract for Sale of Puppy Click here to view Contract, which includes our health guarantee;
5) a copy of the dam's and sire's 3-generation pedigree;
6) a copy of the pup's litter certificate;
7) a collar w/attached AVID blue ID-tag;
8) a "Puppy Pak" compliments of AKC (containing valuable information regarding the benefits of AKC registration, information regarding responsible ownership, etc.);
8) a memorandum entitled "Caring for Your Puppy the First Year", which sets out our recommendations for proper nutrition, provides helpful hints for house training and leash training, etc., and
9) a plastic bag containing a day's worth of Iams Smart Puppy (Iams no longer offers the "puppy packs" for breeders to deliver with new puppies ... rather, Eukanuba now offers the "puppy packs". Although Eukanuba is of higher quality, it is not available except through veterinarians or major pet stores and, thus, much more costly than Iams, which is now available at WalMart and other public venues). The only significant difference between the two is that Eukanuba contains glucosimine ... which may be purchased separately as a daily supplement - highly recommended by us for the life of your puppy to ensure healthy, strong bones.
DEPOSIT
We require the payment of a non-refundable deposit of Two Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($200.00) at the time you select your puppy. Once you've made your selection, I will designate your puppy "reserved" pending receipt of your deposit which must be received within one (1) week. Upon receipt of deposit, the puppy you've selected is designated "sold" in your name. We do not accept deposits prior to the selection of a puppy. If you will be picking up your puppy, the balance of the purchase price is due at the time of pick up in the form of Money Order or cash.
However, if it will be necessary that your puppy be shipped, the balance of the purchase price PLUS all shipping costs must be paid two (2) weeks prior to shipment for the reason that flight reservations must be made in advance to ensure the availability of a spot in animal cargo on the preferred weekend and the necessary veterinarian health certificate must be dated within ten (10) days of the date of shipment ... our vet is open late only two (2) days each week to accommodate those of us who work.
SHIPPING/DELIVERY
Needless to say - with the increased fuel costs - shipping costs have risen! Shipping costs of puppies (8 - 10 weeks of age) are APPROXIMATELY Three Hundred Twenty-five and 00/100 Dollars ($325.00) comprised of:
$225 ... (airfare - UP TO 50 lbs, including kennel - w/Continental Airlines within the continental United States ... we do not charge mileage for delivery to the airport) and INCLUDES "fuel surcharge" of .16/lb and "security fee" of .16/lb w/minimum of $10 (as of May 12, 2009) and insurance;
$60 ... a kennel (generally, pups are shipped in an "intermediate-sized" kennel, however, pups weighing in excess of 25 lbs at time of shipment require the next larger-sized kennel which costs $75-$100), and
$24 ... veterinarian's health certificate (required for shipment out of state).
We will consider delivering pups within a 100-mile radius for a fee of .48 1/2 cents/mile roundtrip.

CALL LIST
We generally have 3-5 litters annually. If you would like to be placed on our "call list" when puppies are available at a future date, please contact us with the following information:
(1) Your name, address, telephone number and/or e-mail address;
(2) whether you prefer a male or female, and
(3) whether you prefer a black/white, a sable/white, a gray/white, or a wolfgrey/white.
I will be happy to contact you when we have puppies available. We try to plan the number of litters whelped to accommodate the number of persons on our "call list". In this way, I am better able to ensure that all of our puppies are placed in loving homes that are prepared to take on the responsibility of welcoming an Alaskan Malamute into their family. So, if you have asked to be placed on our "call list" but find an Alaskan Malamute puppy elsewhere, please let us know so that I can accommodate the others on our list.
"RESERVATIONS"
Deposits are non-refundable, thus, we do not accept deposits until you have selected a puppy. Inquiries for a puppy are logged by date of receipt (and a note is made of gender/color preferred). I contact those on our "call list" prior to breeding to determine which dams/sires to pair depending upon the number of requests for puppies from a specific pairing and/or the number of requests for specific colors/markings. Once puppies arrive and I know the number of males/females and colors available, I contact those on my "call list" a second time. If I do not receive a return call/e-mail within 48 hours confirming an interest in one of our available puppies, that person's name is removed from our "call list". Our puppies are microchipped at 2 weeks of age and the last 3 digits of the microchip number is noted directly beneath each puppy's picture enabling positive identification of the puppy selected thereafter. Once a puppy has been selected, I designate the puppy "reserved" in that person's name for five (5) days pending receipt of deposit. Once the deposit is received, that puppy is designated "sold" in that person's name.
ADULT MALS AVAILABLE
We have retired Tundra, Lexus, Mercedes, Cheyenne, Pumpkin and Nali. Please visit the page entitled Adult Alaskan Malamutes Available for Adoption, as well as the girls' individual pages for pictures and details as to their specific temperaments, such as whether they like children, are highly-energetic, same-sex aggressive, or small-animal safe. Vaccinations are current. All Mals placed in "pet homes" will be spayed before leaving our kennel, if not already spayed. There will be no "adoption fee" for placement in the proper home with the understanding that they are to be returned to us if for any reason the "adoptive family" must re-home them. Because of their size, adult Mals placed for adoption must be picked up/delivered ... they cannot be shipped from Tulsa, OK (adult Mals require extra large/giant kennels and, therefore, must be shipped from either Oklahoma City, OK or Dallas, TX).
As a courtesy to fellow breeders/owners of Alaskan Malamutes, I post photos of adult Alaskan Malamutes that are available for adoption to good homes (some for a small fee). Some of these Mals have been retired from breeding programs. Some are simply in need of replacement homes because their original "parents" can no longer keep them for one reason or another. See photographs on the page entitled "Adult Malamutes Available for Adoption". Contact numbers will be posted beneath the pictures. Ruhmanns' Alaskan Malamutes accepts no responsibility for the health and/or temperament of these Mals and the health guarantee accompanying puppies originating from Ruhmanns' Alaskan Malamutes does NOT apply to the Mals not originating at our kennel and advertised for re-homing as a courtesy.
