THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO THOSE OF OUR ALASKAN MALAMUTE FAMILY WHO HAVE PASSED ON

We lost our beloved Nakita on May 15, 2009. She was the head mistress of our kennel. Our vet suspects she had cancer. She had been in excellent health until the 3 days immediately preceding her death and passed peacefully in her sleep. She and Dakota had produced many beautiful, healthy puppies for us over the years. She is truly missed!

Isis passed away on April 17, 2009, from complications following the whelping of her first litter sired by Nakota. She had 12 puppies her first litter, the survivors of which were adopted and nurtured by our Nessie when Isis passed. We now have one female from that litter - Nakita. She has her parents' temperament - loves everyone she meets.

We lost our beloved Nakota on July 11, 2010. He had the sweetest temperament and blessed us with several beautiful litters of puppies! Although all of the puppies from his last litter have been adopted, we now have one of his daughters from the litter he sired with Isis - Nakita - and we hope to breed her in the near future.

Taser had been working as a therapy dog for a couple of years - visiting the elderly residing in local nursing homes - when we adopted him. He had been a guest at our kennel a couple of years ago and sired a litter of puppies with our Mercedes - from which we kept Shiloh. After a couple of days, we let him "select" his female partner from the several girls "in season" at that time. Taser chose Kiska (a daughter of our Mercedes and Juneau). Over the next few days, he and Kiska got along well and were observed running around, playing tug-o-war with a chew rope and splashing around in their pool of water. Then, a week later, Taser died suddenly - apparently from heat-related stress. He was a gorgeous boy with the softest coat and a temperament to match! Though he wasn't here long, we've missed him as he always greeted us as we walked towards the kennel daily! We consider ourselves blessed to have Shiloh as a remembrance of Taser and the pups he sired with Kiska quickly found homes.

Our Tundra passed away quietly in her sleep on the eve of Thanksgiving, 2010 at the age of 10 years. We rescued Tundra when she was nearly 2 years old ... she was chained to a railroad tie centered in a 10x10 pen with 2 other adult Malamutes - her parents. Tundra was reported to have been an escape artist ... once we brought her home and placed her in one of our outdoor pens (40' x 70'), we never had a problem with her escaping. Tundra was VERY vocal and quick with the kisses! She produced some beautiful puppies over the years with us, one of whom (Gizmo) we kept and they shared a pen for many years. Tundra will be especially missed!

Mercedes passed away in her sleep on April 14, 2011. She would have been 10 years old in June. Mercedes had a quiet demeanor, very reserved, but always the first to begin howling when sirens could be heard in the distance. She and Lexus would always calmly come to me and sit close together for a pet - they never competed for attention. They learned at an early age that I could pet them both at the same time if they sat close together. Lexus grieved terribly for a long time but then turned her affection towards Mercedes' daughter, Shiloh, and they are now inseparable.
